Starlight Headliner
Installation London
Transform your car's ceiling into a breathtaking night sky. Between 400 and 800 hand-placed fibre-optic strands — crafted to order for your vehicle — available in London, Leicester, Norwich and Dubai from £300.
The same technology found in Rolls-Royce, now available for virtually any vehicle.
What Is a Starlight Headliner?
A starlight headliner replaces your factory roof lining with a bespoke panel housing hundreds of individually placed hair-thin fibre-optic strands. Each strand terminates in a tiny light point on the surface of the headliner, creating the appearance of a star-filled sky directly above you.
The effect is unlike anything else in automotive customisation — subtle yet dramatic, and impossible to miss. Every installation is one-of-a-kind; you choose the star density, cluster pattern, and any upgrade effects such as shooting stars or colour-change modes.
Starlight headliners were first made famous by Rolls-Royce, who introduced hand-placed fibre optics in the Phantom as a signature feature of their flagship saloon. The technique — painstakingly routing individual optical fibres through headliner foam to recreate the night sky — remains the gold standard in automotive luxury. Two Shades brings the same level of craft to virtually any vehicle.
Every Two Shades starlight installation is fully concealed, non-destructive, and completed in a single day at our workshop. The result looks and feels factory-built — because we do not compromise on the detail.

Starlight Headliner — Frequently Asked Questions
What is a starlight headliner?
A starlight headliner is a luxury car upgrade where hundreds of thin fibre optic strands are woven through your vehicle's roof lining to create a twinkling star effect inside your car. It mimics looking up at a clear night sky — the same signature feature found in Rolls-Royce Phantoms, now available for almost any vehicle.
How long does a starlight headliner take to install?
Starlight headliner installation typically takes between 6–10 hours. We aim to complete most installations the same day. Drop your car in the morning and collect it the same evening.
How much does a starlight headliner cost in London?
Starlight headliner installations at TwoShades London start from £300 depending on your vehicle and chosen package. Classic installations, shooting star effects, colour-change systems, and fully bespoke builds are all available — exact pricing depends on your vehicle's headliner size, fabric type, and chosen options.
Can starlights be fitted to any car?
Starlight headliners can be fitted to almost any vehicle including saloons, coupes, SUVs, and limousines. We work with all major makes including BMW, Mercedes, Range Rover, Audi, Porsche and more. Vehicles with panoramic glass roofs or very small headliners may have limited options — we will advise you honestly.
Does a starlight headliner come with a warranty?
Yes. All Two Shades starlight headliner installations come with a 12-month workmanship warranty. If anything relating to our work develops a fault, we fix it free of charge.
Does a starlight headliner damage my car or void its warranty?
Our installations are non-destructive. The headliner panel is carefully removed, worked on, and refitted — no cutting of body panels, no permanent modifications. We use OEM-quality connectors and do not splice factory wiring.
Where do you fit starlight headliners?
Our starlight headliner workshops are in London (N4), Leicester, Norwich (NR6), and Dubai (Al Quoz). Customers travel to us from across the UK and the UAE — it is a one-day job and the results are worth the trip.
Will I be able to see the fibre-optic strands when the headliner is refitted?
No — when installed correctly, the strands are completely invisible by day. Each fibre is hair-thin and flush with the headliner fabric surface. Only the light points (the 'stars') are visible, and only when the system is switched on. In daylight or with the cabin lights on, the headliner looks factory-standard.
Can a starlight headliner be fitted to an Alcantara or suede headliner?
Yes. Two Shades has extensive experience working with Alcantara, suede, and other premium fabric headliners. These materials require additional care during the fitting process — the strands are routed through the backing without any surface contact — but the finished result is identical to a standard fabric install. If your vehicle has a factory Alcantara headliner, please mention this when enquiring so we can confirm the approach and quote accurately.
Should I combine a starlight headliner with ambient lighting at the same time?
We strongly recommend it if you are considering both. Combining installations in a single visit saves labour time (and therefore cost), avoids any risk of disturbing finished trim when the second job is done later, and produces a more coherent result — the star ceiling and cabin lighting are balanced and calibrated together. Many customers who book a headliner alone later wish they had added the ambient lighting at the same time.
